lot scarier than male DIs...

ラノベの翻訳を嫌がるぐらい絵の少ない又は全く無い本がとても苦手です。翻訳者としてはありえない性質だと自覚してます、ハイ。でも一応私が構想している軍事系マンガのための研究資料として読んだんです。じゃないと絶対読みません。ハハ(^^;

The Proud.

戦場へ展開した様々な女性海兵隊員の体験談が記載されてて、ところどころ「私もそう思った」「あるあるそーゆーコト」とつい共感してしまいました。(^^;

A book I can relate to.
The other day, instead of reading manga like I usually do, I read a regular book. I'm sure people who know me well are probably shocked by this fact. (*_*)

I really don't read books with few/no pictures so much that I groan when I have to translate light novels. Yes, I admit this tendency is not helpful as a translator.) But I read is as part of my research to help shape a military manga I'm working on. Otherwise, I wouldn't even pick it up. lol (^^;

The book I read was "The Few. The Proud.: Women Marines in Harm's Way."

The book mainly collected interviews of women Marines who were deployed to combat, and there were several places where I nodded in agreement, "Oh yeah, I thought so, too" or "Yeah, I went through that also." (^^;

I finished my enlistment without ever going to combat, but I think that regardless of time or place, female military personnel tend to share similiar thoughts, ideals, issues, and situations.

Also, through the statements made my the Marines, you could understand a little about the situation in Iraq during that time.

To top it off, I saw one of my commanders from boot camp in the book. Specifically, she was the company commander above my platoon. I was totally surprised. What a really small world. (^_^)
