アメリカフェストの花火。

evening dandelion...

で、7月4日が雨天で無い限り、盛大な花火をします。今年は運よく晴れ上がったんで、こんな感じで上がりました。…あ、言っときますが、私たちは今年参加してません。あの人がウジャウジャしてるクソ暑い滑走路にわざわざ行く気はないです!(毎年5万人ほど訪れるそうです!)この写真は家の前から撮ったモノです。(^^;

余談ですが、某国はアメリカの独立記念日に違う種類の「花火」を日本海に撃ち込んだようですね…(^^;

Americafest fireworks.
It's been 3 months since I came back to Okinawa. One of the biggest US military summer event is the "Kadena Karnival"... err, I mean, "Americafest." Kadena Air Base usually holds this annual open-base summer festival event during the weekend closest to the July 4, US Independence Day. (^_^)

And, unless it's bad weather, they usually have fireworks on the night of the 4th. Fortunately, it cleared up this year, so it looked like this. Oh... I just wanted to mention that we didn't actually go to the festival. I'd be hard-pressed to go to a hot, sweltering runway and get smushed by the insanely packed crowds! (About 50,000 people per year go there!) This pic was taken from our front yard. (^^;

Long ago, before it was moved to the runway, it used to be held in the grounds behind the Kadena Bowling Center. I used to go every year as a kid, and on Facebook, my high school classmates were talking about their fun times there. High school days... man, how long ago was that? (>_<)

On a different note, seems like a certain country shot a different kind of "fireworks" into the Sea of Japan to celebrate US Independence Day... (^^;
