退役軍人の日。

強いて言えば、私のような退役軍人のための日です。今日は自分の海兵隊時代を振り返りながら、ゆっくり休みます。まー、現役除隊をしたのは4年前で、去年予備役除隊をしたばかりですけどね。(^^;

現役・退役された米兵に対し、アメリカ人は皆「お疲れ様、そして国を守ってくれてありがとう」と言ってくれます。激戦を戦い抜いた兵士から、後方業務で平々凡々と過ごした兵士まで、全ての米軍人の兵役に感謝を表する日なんて、とてもありがたいことです。米軍に勤めて良かったと思える日であります。(^_^)

Veterans Day.

More specifically, it is a day for a military veteran like me. I get to relax at home and reflect back upon my days in the US Marine Corps. Of course, I just separated from active duty about 4 years ago, and finished up my reserve duty just last year, so I'm a fairly new veteran. (^^;

On this day, Americans will say to former and current miltiary personnel, "Good job, and thank you for serving to protect our country." From veterans who fought through fierce battles, to rear area pogues who worked in peaceful areas, this day is a very thankful and appreciative day for all US military personnel alike. It's a day when I am glad I served in the military. (^_^)
