CSI シーズン６コンプリートDVD BOX-1出ました。

おっと、ヤバイ。CSIシーズン６のDVD BOX買い忘れるところでした。(^^;　BOX-1はすでに出てたんですね。あと、BOX-2は来月に出るので、それも予約しなきゃ。

アメリカ版のDVDの方が全然安いのに、なぜわざわざ値段高めの日本版を？と思う方がいるかもしれませんが…このこだわりは、単なる職業病かもしれません。どうしても日本語のサブタイトルが気になるんです。科学捜査専門用語の日本語訳とか、分かりづらい英語のセリフを上手く2行にまとめてるなぁとか、翻訳者としてはいろいろと勉強になったりします。あと、英語を聞きながら日本語サブタイトルを読んで分析する趣味（？）は、同時通訳や逐次通訳に必要な「お話を聞きながら頭の中で訳を瞬時にまとめる」という技術を向上する良い練習です。

英語が苦手な旦那にも、「英語の発音を聞ききながら英語のサブタイトルを読めば、英語のリスニングが少しずつ上手くなるよ」とすすめたんですが、気づいたら日本語のサブタイトルの方を読んでるんです。えっと、それじゃあ意味がないと思うよ…(^^;
まーなんにせよ、語学、通訳や翻訳を高めるには、好きな本、TV番組、マンガやアニメを見ながら勉強・練習するのはとってもグ〜ですよ。どうせ勉強するなら好きなことをやりながらするのがベストです。(^_^)b

CSI Season 6 Complete (JPN) DVD Box-1 is out.
Whoa, that was close. I almost forgot to buy the CSI Season 6 DVD Box. (^^; Box 1 is already out, and Box 2 will be out next month, so I need to order them.

You may wonder why I'm buying the more expensive Japanese DVDs vice the cheaper US DVDs... but I guess it's best explained as a job obsession. I'm simply curious about the Japanese subtitles. As a translator, I can learn a lot from the translations of CSI technical terms, the skill of condensing complex English phrases into 2 lines of Japanese text and such. Also, my hobby (?) of reading Japanese subs while listening in English helps me practice and improve my simultaneous and consecutive translation skill of "listening to the speaker while putting together the translation in my head."

I suggested to my husband, who doesn't speak much English, to "listen to the English while reading the English subtitles to improve your English hearing/comprehension skills", but for some reason, he's always just reading the Japanese subtitles. Uhh, that totally defeats the purpose... (^^; But whatever the case, in order to improve linguistic, translation, and interpretation skills, it's always good to do it while you're enjoying your favorite book, TV show, manga, and/or anime. You might as well study something through your hobbies. (^_^)b
