月間優秀庭賞？

うちの住宅地に「月間優秀庭賞」の制度があったんだと最近知りました。なぜかというと、お隣さんが受賞したからです。奥さんが毎日花壇のお花や野菜を大事に育てるし、芝生も毎週きちんと刈っているし、もっと早く受賞しなかったのが不思議。おめでとうございます！d(^o^)b

でも懸賞として一体何がもらえるのかな？私の予想では商品券とか割引券だと思いますが、あとでお隣さんに聞いてみます。ただ、１ヶ月間もとんでもなく大きく、そして恐ろしくブサイクな「月間優勝庭賞」看板が庭のど真ん中に立てられ、キレイに整備された庭が台無しだと思うのは、私だけ？奥さんも「ウザイ」と言ってたし…

それに比べると、園芸に全く興味が無い私の庭は…かなり地味。芝生だけ。(^^;
Yard of the Month?
I recently became aware of a "Yard of the Month" contest in our neighborhood. The reason I found out was because our neighbor won the other day. The wife takes really good care of her flowers and vegetables in the garden every day, so I'm actually surprised they didn't win any sooner. Congratulations! d(^o^)b

Hmm, I wonder what prize they won? I'm thinking they got gift certificates or discount coupons, but I'll ask them later. But am I the only one who thinks the humongous, fugly "Yard of the month" sign standing smack in the middle of the yard ruins their pretty garden and sort of defeats the purpose? The wife grumbled about it being in the way, too...

Compared to that, since I have zero interest in gardening, my yard is so... plain and boring. It's all grass. (^^;
