（英訳版）メイド・マシンガン 本日発売！
ラノベ「メイド・マシンガン」の設定は秋葉原。アキバやメイド喫茶の知識がゼロに近い私は、なぜかこの作品を翻訳することになりました。(T_T)でも多量のリサーチや翻訳を通じて、アキバとメイド喫茶の特徴や面白さが少し分かってきたような気がします。
例えば、１０９の店員風に言う柳原可奈子の「いらっしゃいませ〜♥」と、メイド喫茶の可愛らしいメイドさんの「いらっしゃいませ〜♥」は印象が全く違うということ。前者はちょっぴりウザイが、後者は多少癒される、かな？（でも私は女性のお笑い芸人が好きだから、ウザさを選ぶ変な外人です。）
でもいつか旦那と二人でメイド喫茶に行ってみたいな。きっとメイド・マシンガンの主役、ありやちゃんのような可愛いメイドさんが入口で待ち構えてるんだろうね。私はどちらかいうと、ノベルよりマンガを翻訳する方が好きなんですが、この作品はけっこう楽しめました。(^_^)

The setting for the light novel, Maid Machinegun, is Akihabara. Though I had close to zero knowledge about Akihabara or maid cafes, I somehow ended up translating this story.(T_T) But after doing some heavy research and doing the actual translation, I was able to understand some of the characteristics and fun aspects of Akiba and maid cafes.
For example, the greeting "Irasshaimase〜♥(Welcome!)" said by Yanagihara Kanako impersonating a Department 109 clothing store clerk, and the greeting "Irasshaimase〜♥(Welcome!)" said by a cute maid in a maid cafe leave completely different impressions. The former example is a bit irritating, but the latter example is quite soothing, I think? (But I love women comedians, so I prefer the irritaing greeting, since I'm a weird gaijin and all.)
Anyway, I'd like to go to a maid cafe with my husband some day. I'm sure a pretty little maid like the main character of Maid Machinegun, Aaliyah-chan, will be waiting for us at the door. Though I prefer translating manga more than novels, this turned out to be an enjoyable translation project. (^_^)
