存在を否定していたかも…

忘れてました、というか、存在を否定していたかもしれません、3月3日に発売された英語版「いぬかみっ！」マンガ第2巻を。(^^;

ストーリー自体はハーレム系で、とてもシンプルで分かり易い内容ですし、絵柄もカワイイですよ。(^_^)

正直、こーゆーハーレム系のストーリーは全くと言っていいほど興味が無いんです。でも「ラブひな」のラノベといい、この「いぬかみっ！」のマンガも、選んでした仕事ではないです。今回も、他に翻訳できる人がいなかったのか、どーしても私に翻訳して欲しかったのかわかりませんが、結果、断りきれず翻訳してしまった作品です。私は基本的に「ノーと言えないアメリカ人」です。(>_<)

ここでちょっと裏話。ストパニを翻訳した際にアメリカの百合女王、エリカ・フリードマンさんとお友達になり、ちょくちょくメールを交換しています。たまたま「いぬかみっ！」のマンガを翻訳した後にエリカさんに伝えたら、「あら偶然、私はそれのコピーエディターなのよ」と言われてビックリ。エリカさんもこの作品にあまり興味なかったようです。「好きなストパニのマンガに二人の名前が並んでたら良かったのに、よりによっていぬかみっ！とはねぇ〜」と私がぼやいたら、二人とも苦笑しました。なんて皮肉なことでしょう。(^^;

I might have been denying its existence...
I forgot, or rather, probably denied the existence of the second volume of the manga "Inukami!" on sale on March 3. (^^;

This manga is a typical harem story, with a simple plot that was easy to understand, plus the drawings were cute. (^_^)

But honestly, I have zero interest in harem type stories. So I actually translated the "Love Hina" novels and this title not out of choice. I'm not sure if the clients weren't able to find anyone else to translate it, or if they specifically asked for me, but somehow I ended up with it. I guess I am "an American who can't say no" or something. (>_<)

Here's a little behind the scenes story. I became good email buddies with the US queen of yuri, Erica Friedman, through my translations of Strawberry Panic novel and manga. After I translated Inukami, Erica mentioned that she was the copy editor of the series, which surprised me. Turns out that Erica wasn't too fond of the title, either. When I lamented, "It's would've been nice to have our names on the same title, like maybe Strawberry Panic, but I sure didn't expect it to be Inukami," we just had to laugh. What irony. (^^;
