（英語版）YAWARA！DVD近日発売！

10年以上前の話ですが、大学時代にYAWARA！のアニメを翻訳しました。ファンサブをしてた友人と二人で「いつかアメリカでYAWARA！を正式な作品として出たら良いね」と思い、一時期アニメ会社を立ち上げて出そうか？という話もあったんですが、なかなかそうもいかず、ずっとこの思いを胸に秘めていました。

…それがまさか実現するとは。かなりビックリです。(*o*)

実は去年、アニメイゴ社から「あなたが翻訳したYAWARA！のファンサブスクリプトを使用して、DVDボックスセットを出す予定ですが、よろしいでしょうか？」という連絡がありました。この信じられない出来事に戸惑いながらも「えっと、もちろんです、全部使ってください。…って言うか、私が翻訳したことに対してそちらが訴えない上、そのまま使用して頂くことに大変感謝しております。光栄です。」と返事した。

…実際に翻訳したエピソードは5話〜41話だと思う。昔過ぎてちょっと記憶が定かではなく、もしかしたら43話までかもしれませんが、それはさておき。

「因みに、もしよろしければあなたの名前を“翻訳者”の一人として我々のDVDに入れても良いですか？」と聞かれ、「えっ？マジですか？それはもちろんOKですよ！本当にありがとうございます！」と、この時点では興奮がMAX。尊敬する浦沢直樹先生の作品に自分の名前が載るなんて、この上ない喜びです。アニメイゴさん、あなた達は最高です！この恩は一生忘れません！(>_<)b　ついでに残り80以上のエピソードを無償で翻訳してもかまいません！！それぐらい感謝しております。ありがとうございます！

This is really old news, but I translated YAWARA! anime over 10 years ago during college. Back then, my fansub friend and I wished, "It'd be nice if YAWARA! was put out in the States as an official title someday." At one point, we tried to make our own anime company just for that purpose, but it never materialized, so we kept that dream to ourselves all this time.

...But who would have ever guessed that this dream would come true? It was a total surprise. (*o*)

Last year, an AnimEigo representative contacted me and asked, "We'd like to use your fansub translation scripts of YAWARA! and sell it as a box set. Are you okay with that?" I really didn't know how to take this sudden revelation, but I responded, "Umm, of course you can. Please feel free to use all my translations. But... I'm really surprised that you guys aren't suing me for translating your licensed product, and on top of that, you're going to use my stuff. I'm quite honored."

...I think I translated episodes 5-41. It's so long ago that I can't remember clearly, but I may have done up to 43. But, back to the story...

They asked, "Also, we can put your name in the DVD as one of our 'base translators', if you'd like?" to which my excitement reached its peak when I replied, "What? For real? Of course, that's wonderful! Thank you very much!" I still cannot believe the fact that my name will be put in the same credits as my favorite Urasawa Naoki-sensei. AnimEigo, you guys absolutely rock! I will never forget your act of kindness! (>_<)b In fact, I'd be glad to translate the remaining 80+ episodes for free!! That's how much I really appreciate it. Thank you so much!
